I paint a variety of subjects, but I truly love painting animals and giving them a humanistic side.
As an artist I work hard to develop paintings that speak both to me and to others. With my animal portraits, I feel I have done my job when clients look at one of my paintings and it fondly or even humorously reminds them of a family member or their own beloved pet.
Some of my research prior to starting a painting can be just as involved as the painting itself, if not more so. In the case, of a portrait, many times I will first paint a miniature to make sure I worked out all the technical issues before painting the actual piece.
Most of my work is done in oils on canvas or board. However, pen & ink can be beautiful & may fit a clients budget better.
I have carried over my classical style of painting into some great furniture remodeling projects & murals. These are personalized to my clients home & personal interests.
